EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - MAC 21-27 calls

Deadline: October 14, 2022

Entities from the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands are invited, especially those with previous experience in the INTERREG MAC Program, to send their ideas and proposals for possible projects to be submitted to the MAC 21-27 calls within the framework of the Politic Objectives 1 and 2. Please submit the form in Portuguese or in Spanish by the deadline.


‍NATIONAL CALLS

Deadline: September 19, 2022, 17:00 Lisbon time

Proposals for exchanging researchers within the framework of joint research projects. The funding is intended, strictly, for the mobility of researchers participating in the projects: travel costs and stay of Portuguese researchers in Germany (project budget: 2000€/year).


Deadline: September 29, 2022, 17:00 Lisbon time

The call is focused on the development of knowledge to create the skills required to answer to virologic phenomena, including pandemics, and that may translate into efficient prevention measures, better healthcare and an effective support to citizens.

‍European Calls

Deadline: October 4, 2022, 17:00 Brussels time

Projects under this strand should help to achieve the long-term vision of the new EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change that, in 2050, the EU will be a climate-resilient society which is fully adapted to the unavoidable impacts of climate change. Projects should help to reinforce adaptive capacity, strengthen resilience, and reduce vulnerability, in line with the Paris Agreement and the proposed European Climate Law.

The present Call topic targets Standard Action Projects aimed at achieving the objectives of the LIFE Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme by supporting the development, implementation, monitoring and enforcement of EU legislation and policy on nature and biodiversity, as defined in sections 1 and 2 of the Call document.


Deadline: October 4, 2022, 17:00 Brussels time

The present Call topic targets Standard Action Projects (SAP) aimed at achieving the objectives of the Circular Economy and Quality of Life sub-programme. SAP are defined in section 2 of the call document (Type of Action) while the general objectives of the sub-programme in section 1 (‘Circular Economy and Quality of Life’).

Projects under the Climate Change Mitigation Priority Area should contribute to the socially just and sustainable transition towards a climate neutral economy by 2050 and to reaching the EU emission reduction target for 2030 to at least 55% compared with 1990 levels.

The EIC Accelerator focuses in particular on innovations, building on scientific discovery or technological breakthroughs (‘deep tech’) and where significant funding is needed over a long timeframe before returns can be generated (‘patient capital’).

Demonstrate cost-effective and energy-, catalyst and equipment material-efficient transformation of renewable energy into renewable energy carriers for heating, while ensuring very good combustion properties in respect of efficiency and avoidance of pollutants and environmental and socioeconomic sustainability of the respective heating supply and value chains.

The objective of the call is to provide a framework to rapidly respond to new innovative ideas. The scope of the call covers elements of Block 4 of Future EO-1 Segment 1. The particular focus for innovative activities under each element is as follows: Grand Science Challenges; EO for a Resilient Society; Artificial Intelligence for EO; Regional Initiatives; EO for Civil Security.

Proposals should investigate novel scientific approaches or push the limit of existing ones to improve the physical capabilities of robots relevant to industry and service needs in sectors where this is a barrier to uptake, such as innovative actuation principles, or advance the field of miniaturised robotics, advanced control, improved hardware and increased trustworthiness and dependability.

Proposals should build on the multi-functionality allowed by 2DMs and demonstrate the advantages of combining e.g. biocompatibility, chemical stability, (bio-)sensing and actuating, and integration with flexible electronic technologies, in addition to versatile surface chemistry (for interface with biology) to allow continuous health monitoring and built-in pharmacological interventions.

Proposals are expected to focus on application oriented use cases that enhance specific sectors in achieving significant improvements functional and economic performance.

Research could develop solutions to detect and identify anomalies below the water surface and/or automatically assess for below the water surface threats to a ship at the harbour entrance and/or a pier. Projects should demonstrate, test and validate solutions working from detection to minimisation of threats from below the water surface.

This topic requires the effective contribution of SSH disciplines and the involvement of SSH experts and institutions as well as the inclusion of relevant SSH expertise in order to produce meaningful and significant effects enhancing the societal impact of the related research activities.

Development of novel sensor technologies and digital solutions for digitization of existing hydropower plants and improving their sustainable operation by addressing one or more of the following: weather and flow forecast, biodiversity monitoring, predictive modelling and artificial intelligence for the analysis of sensor data for decision-making in operation and maintenance.

Development of technologies for optimization of advanced biofuel flexible systems regarding upstream multi-feedstock, logistics, feeding, ash management, combustion or gasification processes and effluent emissions and their effective integration into industrial process energy environment through efficient and low-emission technologies for industrial use of combustion and gasification systems from low-economic value, but fully sustainable biogenic residues and wastes.

the European Commission and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy unveiled the renewed EU agenda on International Ocean Governance (IOG), proposing actions for a secure, clean and sustainably managed ocean.


As we prepare to accelerate both transitions, the report identifies ten key areas of action with the objective of maximising synergies and consistency between our climate and digital ambitions. By doing so, the EU will strengthen its cross-sector resilience and open strategic autonomy and be better prepared to face new global challenges between now and 2050.


The European Commission has published the I&I topics to support the 5 missions of the Horizon Europe work program. The Commission launched five new EU missions, an unprecedented and innovative way to work together and improve people's lives inside and outside Europe. EU missions aim to respond to major health, climate, and environmental challenges and achieve ambitious and inspiring goals in these fields. 


This training covers from a theoretical and practical approach the main elements of writing proposals under Horizon Europe, taking into account its main novelties and requirement. This is a must training for the start of the program, especially for stakeholders involved in collaborative projects.
