Call for R&D Projects in all Scientific Domains 2025 

Deadline: March 11, 2026

 

Call to fund projects across all scientific domains, in the following types: Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (SR&TD) and Exploratory Research Projects (PEX) focusing on original projects for younger researchers, and on ideas or concepts with a high degree of novelty that demonstrate disruptive potential, compared to previous work, for more experienced researchers. 

INNCYBER Innovation Hub – Call for Projects 2026

Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking Call

This call will fund research and innovation proposals and coordination and support in the areas of tuberculosis, lower respiratory tract infections, HIV-associated co-infections or comorbidities, climate and health, capacities in ethics, regulation, and pharmacovigilance, as well as digital regulatory platforms associated with digital innovation and artificial intelligence.

European Partnership for Brain Health (EPBH) 2026 Calls

Call to fund transnational research and innovation projects addressing brain health, with two thematic strands: (1) factors impacting neurological, mental and sensory disorders and (2) factors impacting neurodegenerative diseases. Projects should investigate biological, lifestyle/social and environmental factors that influence brain health across the lifespan and aim to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care. The calls are part of the European Partnership for Brain Health (EPBH) under Horizon Europe, with Portuguese participation supported by FCT.

Living Labs for Co-creating Solutions for the Restoration of Ecosystems

Call to establish transdisciplinary living labs that co-create, test and scale locally adapted solutions for the restoration of ecosystems. Projects should bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners and stakeholders across regions to enhance ecosystem services, support the implementation of restoration policies and demonstrate workable approaches to counter ecosystem decline. Funding is provided under Horizon Europe’s biodiversity and ecosystem services programme to accelerate innovative methods, tools and collaborations for ecosystem restoration.

Funding is part of Horizon Europe’s Cluster 6 biodiversity and ecosystem services programme, promoting multidisciplinary approaches to protect and restore nature.

Global Biodiversity Information Facility Award 2026

Deadline: May 15, 2026

 

The Call fosters research and innovation in the field of biodiversity informatics, with awards based on criteria of originality and innovation, the use and analysis of data published by GBIF, and also the effectiveness and impact on biodiversity and its conservation.

Jornadas FCCN

Throughout the event, participants will attend plenary sessions, technical presentations, and workshops to discuss the latest developments in the digital services that the FCT, through the FCCN, provides in the areas of Connectivity, Computing, Collaboration, Knowledge, and Security. The main technological trends that are currently shaping the present day and their impact and implementation in the Teaching and Research ecosystem will also be highlighted.

3rd PUB IN Meeting

The 3rd PUB IN Meeting: Journals and Scientific Communication for Open Science will take place on April 16 and 17 at the School of Nursing of the University of Coimbra. The initiative is a space for reflection, training, and sharing, aimed at the publishing community and professionals involved in scientific communication.

In order to support the scientific community in complying with the Policy on Open Access to Scientific Publications, FCT, through its digital services unit FCCN, provides a website support website that brings together all the information necessary to comply with this measure.

The European Commission invites EU-level organisations from the ocean and maritime community to apply for membership of the European Ocean Board, a new advisory body supporting the implementation of the European Ocean Pact. The Board will provide strategic advice, issue opinions, and foster high-level dialogue across sectors such as research, the blue economy, fisheries, aquaculture, innovation, and maritime governance.


This aims to gather different contributions and promote the sharing of ideas on the topic. The public consultation is available until February 23 and can be accessed via the link.


The European Partnership Water4All invites you to participate in a questionnaire on research and innovation in the field of water, aimed at gathering the opinions of researchers and stakeholders on the various topics covered by the Program, within the scope of this consortium's Research and Innovation Strategy. The questionnaire is available until February 23, 2026.


FCT through its digital services unit FCCN, recently launched the POLEN Blueprint, a service of the Research Data Management program POLEN. The POLEN Blueprint aims to support the development, review, and validation of Data Management Plans (DMPs) in a single space, in an interactive and flexible way.
